Petition to Improve Presidential Debates
In recent years the political conversation in the United States has devolved into a shouting match. Presidential debates have become
useless and unwatchable as candidates ignore time limits and repeatedly talk over each other. But healthly debate is essential for a
democracy to function. We must insist that our leaders set a tone that embodies the fundamental American
value of respectful disagreement. To that end,
We, the undersigned citizens, respectfully request that moderators of 2024 presidential debates enforce speaking
time limits by only allowing one candidate's microphone to be on at a time.
